It's in time to cruise the Rhine for another couple of hours until we arrive at the town of Rudesheim...
This photo (below) gives you an idea as to how full the Rhine is. Normally the foreground trees would be the bank. There's been so much rain in Europe this summer.
The river is extremely busy with what seems like hundreds of cruise ships therefore requiring multiple port facilities.
Sigfried's Mechanical Museum is the tourist attraction here. This is a most amazing collection of machines that play all forms of mechanical music making from player pianos to the mighty calliope. It might not sound interesting on that description but everyone was intrigued by this reminder of a world 100+ years ago.Pity we don't have audio here to help you appreciate the wonder of their mechanical genius.
This fascinating hour then included a wine tasting of vintages from the local area in this hotel.
Seigfried's collection is housed in this fascinating building many centuries old.
Before returning to the boat it's time for a toilet visit - and this was prominently on display in the Men's Toilet entrance. To us it seems a sign of an era passing, but smoking is still big here in Germany...

Thank you Peter and Colin for all the wonderful photos and commentary of your Rhine cruise we feel we are with you both. We can see there will be another book in the offing, a great opportunity to advise those planning a similar cruise. We were amazed to see the multiple moorings for this popular way to travel. One wonders do you see many bus tour groups around ?? How is your health Peter ?? Would welcome an update. Love and hugs The Mount Martha Oldies XXX
