As our hotel will not be ready before possibly 3pm, a canal cruise is organised to help fill in that time.
After the 75 minute cruise we're deposited at a Diamond Factory and Showroom. We took advantage of the free drinks instead of looking at the diamond polishing. Then at noon, it's back on to the bus to be driven to the Central Station area where we were deposited, given our bags and told where the taxi rank was. So a rather inglorious end to the cruise where passengers are left to fend for themselves. This was also because about 40 of us were not staying at the expensive recommended hotel. Those who were staying there received door-to-door treatment.
But I digress. Here now are some images from that canal cruise, one of the nicest excursions that you can do anywhere in the world. Let the world float by and enjoy...
This weekend is Amsterdam Pride, one of the largest gay events held anywhere in the world. Hence the city is highlighted throughout with the gay rainbow flag. This is a huge one on the famous Westerkerk Church
Tomorrow it's Amsterdam Pride - one of the most spectacular and colourful parades you'll ever expect to see. I promise you colour, movement, muscles, bad wigs and 350,000 people having a canal-side party. Oh yes, there's also a drenching!
